Silica Preserved Flowers

Flowers that have multiple layers, trumpet shapes (callas, lilies, bells), and most poms are best preserved in silica gel. This is a chemical drying agent that removes moisture and leaves the flowers with a potato-chip like texture. The dried flowers are then placed in either a glass container for display or a shadowbox frame with UV-protective glass. Keepsakes are designed by arranging the flowers and other items from an event to create a lasting memory. As with Traditional Pressed Floral Keepsakes, silica-preserved flowers cannot be displayed in direct light or in a room with high heat and humidity. Although dried, the flowers are still real plants! Silica-Preserved Keepsakes (does not include preservation) start at $150 for a standard shadowbox.
