Glass Container Keepsake

The orchids in this keepsake were preserved immediately after the ceremony. Some flowers may be dropped off for preservation 2-3 days after the event, but not orchids! Sometimes, orchids are wired so there is no stem to keep in water. Oftentimes, they begin to brown and wilt before the day is over.
The preserved orchids (featured above) were kept hydrated with hidden water tubes in the bouquet so they were in perfect condition for preservation. The colors are vibrant and lasting when dried. They are placed in a glass container in and around seashells and sand (both sterilized before use!) from a Caribbean destination. Although they are uncovered in this image, there is a glass cover that is connected with a chain to the base so the cover may be opened and closed. It should remain closed to keep the flowers in perfect condition. Humidity and heat will re-hydrate the orchids and they will wilt and brown.
